BEHIND THE MICROSCOPE

I'm a scientist, but I'm also a writer. I'm many things, but mostly I'm a work in progress. Through this portfolio, I am personally inviting you to walk with me through my progression from scientific writing towards creative writing. Perhaps you will be able to make more sense of it than I have.

I recommend beginning with my self-reflective evolutionary essay, which will provide a preface for the pieces of work you will find throughout my portfolio. Through this essay, I hope to elucidate common themes in my writing, specifically scientific research and addiction, which have led to the development of my first piece of creative writing.

Through the exhibition of these pieces, it is my hope to demonstrate how my formal education and my life experiences working in the field of addiction have awarded me the perspective necessary to create a convincing piece of creative fiction. Although considered fiction, the characters I created resulted from extensive research in the field through working with hundreds of patients, as well as through the application of my learned academic techniques. I hope you are able to appreciate this transition, and find a sense of value in my work.

My proffesional qualifications and contact information can be found under the tabs "CV" and "Contact".
